“I don’t know how you do it!
Your creative vision is second to none… simply breathtaking”
What an incredible year 2017 was! I’ve been fortunate to work with many wonderful people this season; Jane & Jon are two such lovely people! They chose the very picturesque Brookfield Barn in West Sussex to host their summer wedding and it was a day to remember. Their wedding was on the 1st July, and it was a gorgeous 30°C (compared to -1°C right now). Looking back over their pictures I vividly remember how warm it was, both in temperature and emotions. There was an immense party vibe to the proceedings, the type of feeling you get when friends and family are truly present and mindful.
The day started with Jon and his mates playing a round of golf on the estate at Brookfield, I followed them for a few holes and then made my way inside to spend some time with the ladies as they got ready. Nothing beats July light in the UK, and the rays coming into the bridal suite were sublime! When the time was right we went down and 30 minutes later Jane & Jon were married. Their ceremony was followed by a group singalong of ‘Walking on Sunshine’ (perfectly planned) followed by a drinks reception on the terrace.
After the wedding breakfast and speeches we headed out on the green for some quiet portrait time. I like this period of the day a lot, during the summer months we’re often treated to the most insanely beautiful evening light (photographers call it the golden hour), it’s my favourite time to shoot portraits! Note: I work this time into the schedule as standard, so provided the weather is co-operating all my couples get to enjoy this special part of the day 🙂
And then back in for tossing the whiskey (a male variant on tossing the bouquet) and one of the most polished first dances I’ve ever seen/documented.
Here’s just a tiny handful of the images I took for Jane & Jon.
If you’re getting married at Brookfield Barn and looking for a photographer, look no further – get in contact to see if I’m available for your date! I love this venue so much and can’t wait to get back there again soon.
